Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ December 2015

Dear Collective,

Welcome to the final Tarot Reading for the Collective for 2015! For this reading I have chosen Los Arcanos del Tarot by Gloria Calderon. Gloria is from Venezuela and so the text is in Spanish. She hand-printed every card in this Majors-only tarot deck (so just 22 cards instead of the standard 78). I bought this deck from Mary Greer at this year’s Readers Studio in New York. I love that they are all woodcut prints, and I love the smell of this deck! I’m sorry that I can’t share the smell with you here on the blog, but trust me, it’s good (I was going to try and describe the smell to you, but I find I can’t. It’s a special wisdom reserved for the nose alone)!

First up we have Estrella (The Star) to bathe us in her distant yet powerful light before we catapult into the final stages of this calendar year. Estrella, what will you remind us of as we walk these final weeks of 2015?

The Star - Los 22 Arcanos del Tarot by Gloria Calderon

I will remind you to look after yourselves and keep yourselves safe. I come into your lives to heal what has fallen apart, so let me do just that. Be open to asking for and receiving help, and don’t reject my advances. Quiet time with me is not boring, it is powerful and it is necessary.

Thank you Estrella. I see now we have Death, and though the card is not named, the number is concurrent with Death and in the booklet it is referred to as ‘La Muerte’. So here we get to sit with the Death card a while, and remember what we have let go of this year. Death, do you care to speak?

Death - Los 22 Arcanos del Tarot by Gloria Calderon

My dear collective, you have let go of so much this year. Some of you have let go of old ideas and outdated dreams, some of you have lost your minds for a while and some of you have found them again, some of you have lost beings whom you love. I will help you let go every year, and indeed, every day, but as we walk these final weeks, perhaps remind yourself of the need to say goodbye to worn-out ways of behaving with others. Now is a good time to let go of what’s no longer nourishing you, and say yes instead to connections that feel vital and full.

Vital and full? I can help with that.

Sol (The Sun), thank you for shining upon us.

The Sun - Los 22 Arcanos del Tarot by Gloria Calderon

As always, it is a pleasure, O Collective. I am happy to be here and happy to remind you all of the need to expand into something bigger and more magnificent rather than just accept what the powers-that-be deem to be worthy of accepting.

If you haven’t done it already – do it now. Stand up and celebrate the body you are occupying and move forward in a direction that is agreeable to you. As long as you harm none, you are bound to find some sure and steady footing.

I think it’s now time we welcomed in the High Priestess, appearing to us as Pensamiento (this translates as ‘thought’ and the number indicates the High Priestess… one who goes within).

High Priestess - Los 22 Arcanos del Tarot by Gloria Calderon

Hello Collective Ones. I have much to dream of here, and much to prepare for. I have seen visions of what you can grow this coming year, and I want to remind you of the importance of staying close to your initial insights.

I know it is hard being human and it is even harder to trust your intuition. However, the more you open yourselves up to vibrant possibilities and the more you trust that initial pull that connects you to your hearts, well, there may be something especially beautiful to receive.

And I can up the tempo a bit so you can also have some extroverted as well as introverted time.

Magician - Los 22 Arcanos del Tarot by Gloria Calderon

Welcome, Art-Ficio (this translates as ‘Art-Fiction’ and the number indicates The Magician… the one who shows us the power of our talents)!

Welcome yourself, it is your life! Now, you’re probably going to feel bombarded as usual once you get to the New Year. So right now, I am going to show you this fancy trick where you just juggle ALL THESE FANTASTIC ASPECTS OF YOURSELVES and start to find that you are better at tackling big ideas than you initially thought.

So, what is this fancy trick?

Well, it’s hard to show in words alone. But part of it will just be having such love for certain parts of your journey, that you kind of WOW everyone with this showy blast of confidence, and whilst everyone is marvelling at your fabulousness, you just lie down and recollect yourself and then you burst forward again! It’s hard to explain, but a big part of it is just stubbornly believing you can do it. Choose your paths wisely though. There’s no joy in clinging to journeys that have forbidden access or are just off on a weird tangent.

And finally we have Dos Caminos (this translates as ‘Two- ways’ and the number indicates The Lovers).

Lovers - Los 22 Arcanos del Tarot by Gloria Calderon

Yes it is me, well, it is us. And we have an important message to share about compatibility and respect. End-of-year events can often bring stress, so it’s important that you allow us to show you how to negotiate respectful connections firstly with yourself, and then with others.

If you can align with what you most need for your own safety, peace-of-mind and joy, then you are more likely to be able to lead by example for others.

Remember to look out for the quiet moments as we take the last steps of the year – they deserve just as much attention as the noisy ones. And perhaps they will take you into a stronger internal space so that you can start the year with more self-love.

However you spend your days during this end-of-year season, I wish you warmth and love, dear readers. See you next year!

This week I featured in a podcast with Andrew McGregor, a tarot reader I met last year at The Readers’ Studio in NYC. Andrew runs an esoteric emporium called The Hermit’s Lamp in Toronto, Canada.

He has a fantastic collection of podcasts where he chats with different tarot readers about their perspectives on life.

I really enjoyed our chat, and I can also highly recommend his online programs if you are wanting to learn more about the tarot.

Listen to the podcast to hear some behind-the-scenes out-takes from Psychic Sarah, as well as our discussion about our journeys towards becoming tarot readers, travelling in India, and the wonders of meditation, intuition, tutus and more!

Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ February 2016

Dearest Collective,

February’s Tarot Reading for the Collective comes to you courtesy of The David Bowie Tarot deck by Jessica DeFelice. That’s right, The David Bowie Tarot Deck. Some of you right now may be fainting with pleasurable disbelief, and others will be going “so what?”. But to the latter group I say, don’t worry, it’s still a Tarot Reading for the Collective, and hopefully there will be a message in there for you all.

I ordered this deck via a Kickstarter campaign last year. Now that David Bowie is sadly no longer with us, it was an extra special moment when this deck arrived to my home on Friday afternoon. Until that moment I had been wondering what deck I would use for this reading. The wondering stopped instantly upon opening the parcel!

So let us take a journey to the stars with David Bowie… [This reading was done while listening to Bowie songs (of course). In particular, to the album that I often listen to while riding my bicycle around town: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars.]

I enjoyed thinking up questions for the Collective last month, so thought I’d keep with that flow. This month’s questions are:

  1. How we can gather the strength required to connect with our dreams?
  2. How do we recognise which opportunities are the most beneficial?
  3. What sits just out of sight, that we need to know about so that we can be better prepared?
  4. What archetype will be our dance partner for February, showing us how to spin out of any melancholia?

As usual, I’ll just let the cards speak to you directly once the question has been laid down.

How we can gather the strength required to connect with our dreams?

~The Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune - The David Bowie Tarot Deck by Jessica DeFelice.jpg

“He took it all too far, but boy could he play guitar”

Build and manifest, wait, build and manifest. Move, build and manifest. Don’t stop moving, but remember that sometimes your movements will be slow, so you will think you’re not getting anywhere. The rest point is an important part of the cycle. So is the climbing point, the rising point and the falling point.

You will be at all positions at some point, many times over, so stop getting caught up in where you ‘should’ be, and just be. Sing from a place so deep inside that your own ears don’t even understand what you are saying. But trust that your witnesses will respond in a way that causes you to react and then understand so much more about your deeper self, and your deepest dreams.

How do we recognise which opportunities are the most beneficial?

~ Seven of Wands

Seven of Wands - The David Bowie Tarot Deck by Jessica DeFelice.jpg

“Come out of the garden, baby
You’ll catch your death in the fog”

How do you think you recognise them? By connecting with the one that frightens you most! Or rather, the one that makes your heart leap forward – and then you feel this weird tugging sensation like a gremlin in your body trying to clutch at your leaping heart and wrap a cold, wet, grey blanket around it. Fight off the gremlin! Resist the status quo!

If you want to connect with beneficial opportunities no one is going to be able to spell it out for you. Be wowed by your capacity to resist the pressure of the grey wet blanket and grab that microphone and sing like it’s your hairbrush and you’re in front of the mirror in your bedroom.

What sits just out of sight, that we need to know about so that we can be better prepared?

~ Death [Haha!]. I’m tempted to just want to leave it there, but as this is a reading and I like to be helpful, I guess I will expand. Or rather, Death will expand:

Death - The David Bowie Tarot Deck by Jessica DeFelice.jpg

“Something happened on the day he died
Spirit rose a metre and stepped aside”

[NB. As I wrote this part I spoke it aloud at the same time, in a harsh, gravelly whisper. Also with an American accent. Doing this yourself might help you get into character.]

Take a drag on this baby: We’re all going down and we ain’t taking nothing with us. I’ll prepare you by taking away what you think you need most and PROVE to you that you didn’t really need it at all, in order to help you figure out this wacked-out-constantly-changing-ever-mysterious LIFE! I’ll try my best not to freak you out TOO much, but by my stars, baby, you’re gonna want to step out of that funk you’re in and just keep moving. You don’t need that old shit. You need something no one else can find for you. You need a path that honours your progress, and that reminds you that those who don’t honour you, cannot SEE you. So WHY try and help them by standing still? Help them by kicking arse and not apologising for your freaky goddamn BEAUTY!!

What archetype will be our dance partner for February, showing us how to spin out of any melancholia?

~ The Alien (Magician)

The Alien (Magician) - The David Bowie Tarot by Jessica DeFelice.jpg

“If we can sparkle he may land tonight”

Change your surroundings and speak to the moon when it’s new, speak to it when it’s full, I don’t care when, just speak to it! And speak to each other. And integrate what you’ve learned so far and stop throwing outdated ideologies at each other. Invite the alien within to come out and play. This will make you feel kind of strange but it will be good for you.

If you think you might be kind of conservative, drop that conservatism for a moment and see how it feels to be a bit looser. If you’re the opposite of conservative, well, maybe just try and ground that spaciousness somewhat, so that you can inspire others more. And if all still feels kind of stuck, and sort of blah, then rub some glitter on your temples and throw your head back to the sky and hurtle some love to the nearest star.

Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ March 2016

Dear readers, it’s time for the monthly Tarot Reading for the Collective, and it’s time to use the Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince again. This is a powerful deck, and I think an extra bit of empowerment never goes astray. And so many clients have chosen to work with this deck this lately, out of the five decks I have on the tarot table. So the Dark Goddess Tarot it is: where every card is also a goddess, so it’s got double the power!

This month’s questions are:

  1. What are we hiding from ourselves?
  2. Who will take us into a clearer headspace?
  3. Who will help us confront the more thorny parts of ourselves?
  4. And who will help us embrace what we discover, so we are no longer fearful of who we are?

Like always, I’ll just let the cards speak to you directly once the question has been laid down.

1. What are we hiding from ourselves?

Six of Water (Cups) - Tefnut - Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince

Six of Water (Cups) ~ Tefnut

My dears, you are so good at hiding your capacity for collaboration, for community action and for work without competitiveness. You do indeed know how to draw out the light in each other and be genuinely happy when another finds their stride, yet sometimes you forget this and trick yourself into being jealous.

You may be ignoring how you can be real and authentic for those around you who are struggling right now. You don’t have to be impatient with them, or force them to be ‘fixed’… you can sit with them and love them hugely, with the quiet hope that they will find their way through. Trust that they want to see you growing too. Your onward growth could be helping them restrengthen their relationship with life.

2. Who will take us into a clearer headspace?

Chariot - Ishtar - Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince

Chariot ~ Ishtar

Come with me to boldly move forward, to cut forth and go deep. Ignore the distractions: they are not for you, they never were. If you must contemplate them, contemplate what they say about you and your own journey, rather than a projected fantasy.

Be resilient in your intentions and gather only the fuel you need for this next stage of life. Trust there will be another refuelling station before you run out of steam.

Know that if you trust in yourself, you will manifest the energy to hold people in that same strong space where they can be inspired to walk confidently on their own path.

3. Who will help us confront the more thorny parts of ourselves?

Liberation (Judgement) - Persephone - Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince

Liberation (Judgment) ~ Persephone

I will help you enjoy the darker spaces you inhabit, where you learn more about the complexities and intrigues of the human condition. I will remind you that while you may fall short of your self-expectations at times, there is wisdom to be found in your transgressions.

Through embracing your thorny aspects you are being more real with yourself, and becoming more whole. There must be more to you than the cheerful exterior. Don’t let people get away with thinking you’re overly sweet: you are so much more than that.

Judge only what you want to shift within yourself rather than what you think others must change in themselves. And if you must gaze fiercely at yourself, try your best to bring kindness in as well. Take refuge in the peace of the darker waters: the unknown doesn’t have to frightening.

4. And who will help us embrace what we discover, so we are no longer fearful of who we are?

Witch of Fire (Queen of Wands) - Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince

Witch of Fire (Queen of Wands) ~ Cerridwen

I will bring your power to the table and demand you add your freakiest aspects to the mix. Draw deep on your experiences thus far, and find a way to gain understanding about even the most noxious of experiences you have moved through.

I won’t ask you to forgive, but I will ask you to get clear and move to a space where no one else owns any part of you. You are wholly your own person, and your own experience is yours. Your wisdom is your own and only you can make the bigger calls of your life.

Let the wise ones add to the mix, but know that even they may use the trickster to guide you, whether knowingly or not. Be open and armoured all at once. Vulnerable and cool in one breath. Be mysterious, be active. Be your own flesh. Be your best friend and your most ferocious ally, and hold yourself well.

Tarot Reading for the Collective ~April 2016

Dear Readers, this month’s Tarot Reading for the Collective is brought to you by The Collective Tarot by the Tarot Collective. I am amused every time I write that sentence, and I have written it a few times now on this blog. This is a tarot deck created by a collective of artists from Portland, Oregon, and represents a large cross-section of society, so it is inclusive to anyone who chooses to work with this deck.

This month’s questions are:

  1. What changes can we expect this month?
  2. How can we grow beyond the tendency to make comparisons?
  3. How can we best face untruths?
  4. What can we learn from our own sufferings?

Like always, I’ll just let the cards speak to you directly once the question has been laid down.

1. What changes can we expect this month?

Intermission (Hanged Man/One)

Intermission (Hanged One) - The Collective Tarot by the Tarot Collective

Well, first you have to notice that I am here. You can expect me to give you ample opportunity to notice that something has ended, and something is beginning. Waiting to see who will come and save you will not work here. Only you can create the change that is needed. So what changes can we expect this month? Well, what do you want to see change? What issues are important to you? What is worth getting out of bed for and for what is worth staying alive another day? What can you ask for to help people understand how you are trying to make sense of this strange, mysterious cosmic soup? Where are you flailing? How can you ask people to step in with an inspirational or simply practical boost? How will you then move on once you have received that gracious assistance? Where can you nurture more love in your life when you are struggling to feel it in the current circumstances?

I hope you haven’t come to see me for answers! For I am here to help you observe and really notice what needs to be done in your lives. So listen and watch. And pay attention, for there are more of us now, and with every new life there is more energy manifesting and more opportunity for connection, and understanding what separates us. It is crucial that we are doing our best to hear and understand each other.

2. How can we grow beyond the tendency to make comparisons?

The Hermit

The Hermit - The Collective Tarot by the Tarot Collective

By letting me shine a light on your own sweet face. By letting me pierce your heart with a document full of the crazy beautiful movements you have been making for so long now. You still comparing yourself to others? You still think that other people are just cruising along with no troubles in their complex minds? The chemistry of the body is a fascinating thing and everyone finds themselves in a funk sometimes. The trick is to not allow the illusion of others skipping through the tulips to get you down when you are feeling meh and gut-wrenchingly existential.

There is beauty, too, in these strange shadows that we find ourselves moving through in slow-motion. And in those harsher moments there are nuggets of wisdom that will keep you shinier in the other moments. Those moments when you are actually able to see how powerfully your heart affects others.

3. How can we best face untruths?

The Sun

The Sun - The Collective Tarot by the Tarot Collective

Bask in the light, don’t get down, put on your play-suit and go forth into the fray. With a strut and with confidence, the distorted shenanigans of those not perceiving reality-as-it-is need not get you down. They are only harming themselves after all. Keep shining on them as the sun keeps shining on us: unrelenting and powerful. And then look forward for clearer paths where you actually don’t have to associate with those you find troubling, in order to make a living or be a part of a particular community. I will help you see how you can thrive without having to squash your integrity.

4. What can we learn from our own sufferings?

Seven of Feathers (Swords)

Seven of Feathers (Swords) - The Collective Tarot by the Tarot Collective

That we are creating our own pain. We pull ourselves apart and for those witnessing us they are confused. “But why can you not feel what I see in you?”. Beyond the desolation there is a triumph of sorts. That though we have eaten ourselves we have gained an understanding that we never need hide our pain again. We can share it in a way that facilitates understanding and compassion rather than separation and frustration. I will help you listen out for your sharp insights that pierce through even your most monumental downers. I will introduce you to people who pierce you in ways that bring ecstacy through the pain. Herein lies truth amongst the rubble. I will help you knit your brain back together while you are there. xx

Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ May 2016

This month’s Tarot Reading for the Collective is coming to you much later than usual due to reasons of holidaying! I started this reading in San Francisco, and here it ends in Sydney. Part of it was also written on the final stages of the plane home. It’s a Pacific Ocean reading!

The deck I am using is Pentimento Tarot by Joanna Powell Colbert. I acquired this deck at the Readers Studio in NYC and instantly fell in love. So in love with it that it featured in my wedding two weeks ago in the Redwood Regional Park in Oakland. We decided to take advantage of the marriage equality laws in California, and the wedding was one big walk-through tarot reading! There are a few photos of the ceremony on my Instagram page (it’s a public page, so you don’t have to be on Instagram to view).

This tarot deck is a Majors-only deck (a full deck is made up of 78 cards, and there are 22 cards in the Major Arcana) and features a beautiful and unique creative process where Joanna created the cards using beeswax collage.

So let us begin! This month’s (the final week of the month that is!) questions are:

  1. How can we hold onto what we know, so we can remember who we are?
  1. How can we maintain the right momentum, so everything can get done at the right time and place?
  1. How can we speak to our past, so that we are no longer burdened by the weight of what was done?
  1. How can we challenge ourselves to stay firm in our stance, so that we walk strongly with our current dreams, as we whisper to our future ones?

As usual I will let the cards speak directly to you.

1. How can we hold onto what we know, so we can remember who we are?

The Tower

The Tower - Pentimento Tarot by Joanna Powell Colbert.jpg

Ha! I know some of you are confused by my appearance: “How can an exploding tower possibly help us hold onto anything?” I’m also sure some of you are nodding knowingly in amusement… I often make an appearance when people are wanting something more stable in nature!

How shall the Collective hold onto what they know so they can remember who they are? By surrendering to something more important than that which they consider most important. By letting go of the thoughts that disturb your innate capacity for calm, and by focusing on the spaces that hold connection.

You don’t have to explode along with me, but you might want to quickly ascertain where the nearest exit is so you can head that way as you realise what is important to you. That way you can naturally release the thoughts and people who don’t have the verve to connect with your heart.

Things aren’t always as they seem. They can be better, more aligned and clearer. But we haven’t been taught that, so it can feel kind of crunchy when we first meet this aspect.

2. How can we maintain the right momentum, so everything can get done at the right time and place?

Temperance

Temperance - Pentimento Tarot by Joanna Powell Colbert.jpg

Be mysterious, even with yourself. Let the flow ease back and forth and let life guide you, rather than trying to steer yourself by fragments and broken dreams, bits and pieces of this and that.

Trust in a flow that is warmer than your heart, and that stretches back further than your great grandparents’ great grandparents. The sooner you stop trying to figure things out by intellectualizing alone, the sooner you can be comfortable with the mystery, and just let the flow of Temperance push you where you need to be in every moment.

3. How can we speak to our past, so that we are no longer burdened by the weight of what was done?

The Fool

The Fool - Pentimento Tarot by Joanna Powell Colbert.jpg

With a certain amount of amnesia. I haven’t fully forgotten, I’ve just realised that I get more done when I stop being sentimental or overly fixated on the titles I used to give myself: thief, liar, idiot, cheater, time-waster, clown.

There is magic in our past, even in the messiest chunks. The potential for wisdom to spring forth was planted in every action or non-action of the past, and the chance to create a different way of existing always remains.

By taking a heartfelt leap with the Fool, you can understand that there was wisdom in even your most seemingly deluded moments.

4. How can we challenge ourselves to stay firm in our stance, so that we walk strongly with our current dreams, as we whisper to our future ones?

The Magician

The Magician - Pentimento Tarot by Joanna Powell Colbert.jpg

Take it from me, the road ahead has twists and turns that will make the fearful shake in their boots. For those who are willing to be real, be strong, and just face the ever-changing tides with the wisdom that IT ALL CHANGES, the warmth in your belly will grow as you connect more with your bodily dreams.

You will need to uncover rituals of the past and remember what it is that you laid rest to. Not because you need to excavate, but so you know what to reject when the charismatic ones try to impress their ideas upon you.

I will help you stay firm in your stance but deny you access to superficial fodder. I will help you walk strongly with your current dreams by reminding you of your wisdom and skills as you wake up every morning. I will help you whisper to your future dreams by pressing more love into your hearts by whatever means possible.

Whether it comes from a stranger’s smile or quiet moments with a loved one, I am pushing strength into you so that you awaken into what you are meant to do, if any of us are to leave this life with an understanding of connection and truth.

[Tarot Newsletter] A Wedding in the Redwoods, & the Wheel of Fortune

Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ June 2016

$

Welcome to June, and welcome to The Elora Tarot Project, a tarot deck that came into the world when Shelley Carter from Elora, Ontario, Canada, invited 65 local artists to create the 78 tarot card images. Shelley is quoted on the inside of the tarot box, “There was magic at work when this community got together and created something extraordinary”.

I met Shelley at the Readers Studio in NYC this year when she came to the incubator session I led on the final morning. She sat next to me, and shared her wisdom with all at the table, and then gifted me with this deck at the end, hooray! I then gave her some of my Queen of Cups Chai. We were both pleased with our gifts.

So, on to the reading! We’re going into Solstice Season – Winter where I and my fellow antipodeans are, and Summer where some of you are, like the good folk of Elora, for example. June 21 is the Solstice and my goodness is it a good opportunity for setting clear intentions. What we initiate at this time of year can last and last. So perhaps let us ask questions that can keep us on track. This month’s questions are:

  1. How can we ask good questions? [I actually want to know]
  2. How will we know when we’ve asked a good question? [Yes! How?!]
  3. How can our communities help us set our personal intentions? [Please help!]
  4. What can happen if we pull our finger out and just make a decision and by golly put it into action? [I REALLY want to know this!]

As usual I will let the cards speak directly to you.

  1. How can we ask good questions?

      The Chariot.

Just look forward and face what beckons you. Open your heart as you gaze upon the path ahead and see what you have never been able to see before. Give a voice to questions that erupt from overwhelming curiosity. The kinds of questions that could shock people with their rawness.

Psychic Sarah herself had the experience of asking a mortician whether they had ever commenced an embalming process only to find that the person wasn’t actually dead. She had been wondering about this for some time, and finally had the opportunity to ask at a talk given at a local funeral home as part of “Under the Blue Moon”, a Gothic festival in Newtown. The crowd responded to her question by collectively gasping in shock and turning around to look at the weirdo who could possibly ask such a thing. The crowd then gasped again when the embalmer answered in the affirmative (just the once, that he’d heard of. In New Zealand. Tricky situation. I mean, even though they weren’t dead per se, they were mostly dead. Who was to blame? The embalmer for not checking? The doctor for not double-checking?!)

So, it could be a question like this – one that satisfies a strange and perhaps morbid curiosity, or rather, one that beckons people to gaze into your heart by making a connection with their own. Both types of question can provide such stimulating answers. The second kind, especially so. I am aware I haven’t given you an example of the second kind. However, I think that is best, as you really need to make the time to sit with yourself, with few distractions, in order to uncover these curiosities. Now go forth and leave me to the night sky.

  1. How will we know when we’ve asked a good question?

Death.

Haha! Oh goodness me. Hmm. Has anyone else noticed how often Death and The Tower have been turning up in this year’s Tarot Readings for the Collective? And in a way that makes us seem like a punchline? Anyone laughing yet?!

You have to admit, as a concept, I’m about as mysterious as you can get, right? Who knows me so well that they can confidently talk about me as if they are the absolute knowledge bearer on this subject? No one, that’s who! Well, some people DO do that, but they’re just hypothesising, or just talking about their own experience, which certainly isn’t everyone’s reality. They won’t really know me until their bones fall apart. And then they’ll be dead and the rest of you can just keep on wondering.

So how can I help you know when you’ve asked a good question? You will feel like you’ve just been introduced to a part of your heart that you didn’t even know existed until that moment. KaPOW and WHOOSH you’ll feel so open that you will feel like asking a selected few to gaze inside of you and respond to your question with a sense of wonder and pleasure.

Of course, if you’re that open, the selected few could damage you! They could ignore you! They could ridicule you! You might feel like all of this is very possible! But perhaps they might gasp, hand over heart, as their heart explodes open too, and they feel so honoured to be asked something they have never before been asked. And chances are they will do just that. And if they don’t, and opt for the former, meaner way of responding, then it DOESN’T MATTER! Because your heart is open! You can answer it yourself! You can fling your question to the universe with a leap and a kick (metaphorically or literally, as you wish) and invite your wisdom to just POUR ON IN!

  1. How can our communities help us set our personal intentions?

Knight of Wands.

I, the Knight of Wands, as the representative of your community, light the fires in your heart. We light the fires in your soul. We watch you from a distance a lot of the time, but watch you we do. We are interested in you and in ourselves. What serves you will serve us. What you learn, we learn. We want you to be successful, because then we get to move forward. We get to embrace our dreams too. If you can set a clear intention, so can we. If you can do something unthinkably kind, we can ponder how we can do that too.

We will help you set your intentions by inviting you to gaze upon us, your community. What inspires you there? What psychedelic, hypercolour visions start to form in your brain as you ponder what your next step could be?

As the Knight of Wands I can help you look at ideas that you think are too big, and nudge you (with my FLAMING ROD!) towards the possible outcomes. Your communities will help you set your personal intentions by showing you what they have done, and admiring you (openly or subtly) and your ways of being so that you stop just STANDING there and get on with your part of the inspiration cycle.

  1. What can happen if we pull our finger out and just make a decision and by golly put it into action?

Queen of Swords.

Look at me my darlings! I move so fast you can’t see my shape. Things can change in one short moment. Sometimes for the worse, but also for the better. You could shape with your very own mouth the words that contribute to overturning the ever-growing pile of bullshit on this planet.

How could you speak to an authority figure in a way that helps them to connect with what is beautiful in their heart? There are no perfectly formed decisions, but with wit and grace there is always a way to navigate how the road turns and reforms in response to your decisions. Be clever and listen not just to your logical mind, but your fabulously organic and ever-growing heart. Your heart grows older every day. There is no time to waste!

If I was the type to weep, I would weep at your brave efforts of trying to connect with this world. It’s not like any of you have a script to follow or an actual clue as to what this life cycle is all about. Well, you do have clues, but clues are all you’ve got. How wonderful that you ponder changing your routines and figuring out new ways of exploring the map despite all the disruptions that occur.

I commend you for your efforts! And I wish you well as you pull your fingers out! Find your fellow bullshit blasters and be amazed at what you can create through inspiring the irresistable wildness in each other!

Divination Bicycle!

SB & Relative Tarot Bike.jpg

Posing casually with my bike!

For those who enjoy my flowery, glittery, tarot bicycle, it has a new addition to the wheels! For the first time, instead of laminated photocopies of tarot cards around the wheel, I have an actual tarot deck spinning around – The Relative Tarot by Carrie Paris.

So now my bicycle is a Divination Bicycle! I ask a question before I ride, or while I’m riding, and the answer comes depending on which cards are at the top of the wheels when I arrive at my destination. I then post a mini reading based on the cards on Instagram (my account is public, and can be viewed by anyone, whether they are on Instagram or not).

I posted the inaugural reading last week, and the second one today, and I have posted them both for you to read, below. If you want to read them on a regular basis, you can follow me on Instagram @sarahthepsychic.

Bicycle Divination 1.jpg

Bicycle Divination Reading Number 1 (13.06.16):

How can we work together as a global community to diminish hatred and violence?

Front wheel: The Emperor, and on the other side of the wheel, The Star.

Back wheel: The High Priestess, and on the other side of the wheel, The Queen of Cups.

[Front wheel = Visible ways of working.

Back wheel = Hidden ways of working.]

The Emperor says, “Sit with the wise ones and speak to each others’ strengths rather than each others’ weaknesses.”

The Star says, “Heal what you are able to right now within yourselves, and continue to explore healing as you continue to live in this marvelously strange world.”

The High Priestess says, “Illuminate the honesty that others are afraid to see.”

The Queen of Cups says, “Imagine the world’s leaders in group therapy and envision them recognising the choices that limit themselves (and the community). Hold the hope that they can work with the level of integrity that is required of them.”

Bicycle Divination 2.jpg

Bicycle Divination Reading Number 2 (20.06.16):

Tomorrow, June 21, is the Winter Solstice (and Summer for the Northerners, of course).

My question for this morning was,

What archetypes can help us set the best intentions for the Solstice, so that we can create what we really want to see in this world?

Front wheel: The Page of Swords and on the other side of the wheel, the Queen of Coins.

Back wheel: The Fool, and on the other side of the wheel, The Hanged One.

[Front wheel = Visible ways of working.

Back wheel = Hidden ways of working.]

The Page of Swords says, “Be fearless in your intentions, no one is the boss of you!”

The Queen of Coins says, “Remember the Earth as you lay down your dreams. You live upon her, after all!”

The Fool says, “Set an intention that is perhaps too big to perfect before the Equinox, but set it just in case you land well!”

The Hanged One says,  “Take a breath before you cast your wish, and recall how far you’ve come since this time last year.”

And a special mention from the Wheel of Fortune and Queen of Swords who sit in the middle of the wheel but are lined up with the top cards this time!

Wheel of Fortune says, “It doesn’t have to be a huge intention if you don’t have the stamina for it. Just make sure it’s authentic.

And the Queen of Swords says, “By golly make sure you can hear your own heart! Let the clarity of vision pour out!

If you have a question for the Divination Bicycle, please post it in the comments. Please keep them community focused! Intuition will be the decider as to whether I use them or not, but I would love to hear what you want to ask.

[Tarot Newsletter] What does a Divination Bicycle look like?

Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ July 2016

Dear readers, welcome to this month’s Tarot Reading for the Collective, and welcome to the Tarot de St. Croix by Lisa de St. Croix. I had had my eye on this beautiful contemporary multi-cultural tarot deck for quite some time, and it was on my To-Buy list when I went to Readers Studio in NYC this year. The Tarot Garden had one left in stock, and buy it I did, hooray!

The questions for July are:

  1. Who are we listening to?
  2. Who should we listen to more?
  3. Who will hold us accountable?
  4. How can we love each other well, and without judgment?

As usual, I will let the cards speak to you directly.

  1. Who are we listening to?

Two of Pentacles

Two of Pentacles - Tarot de St. Croix by Lisa de St. Croix

To listen to me is to know the need to maintain balance in trying times. So many things are being thrown at the Collective that are aimed to disturb you and distract you from what your hearts yearn for. I am helping you to keep your feet on the ground and to remember why you chose this way of living in the first place.

If you aren’t sure if you have made choices that are beneficial at this point, let me weave your head and your heart closer together. Then you might stop confusing one for the other. Let both your head and your heart speak to you in equal measures, with the intention of helping you be at once practical and magical in your decision-making processes.

If you are content with your choices, then keep striving and stay strong in your core, and if there is ruckus ahead, it will be nothing you can’t handle.

It is important to consider, however, that you are listening to me because you expect there to be some sort of struggle. Perhaps the Collective is listening to me so intently because I hold a tension of power that is familiar yet unyielding. Do you wish to listen to a different story?

  1. Who should we listen to more?

Three of Wands

Three of Wands - Tarot de St. Croix by Lisa de St. Croix

Listen to me to help your mind escape the boundaries placed by the status quo. Listen to me more to keep you growing beyond the old, worn out, seemingly-true-but-not-really-true-statements like “that’s just the way things are”/”sometimes you’ve got to do things you don’t want to do”/”I’ve got no choice”.

Take a breath with me and consider other options. Perhaps some of them aren’t quite ripe enough to connect with just yet, but by holding them in your mind and heart you allow them to grow beyond the idea stage and into reality.

Invite in new thoughts that are welcoming to your heart. Be curious about where the mere act of considering these options will take you. Set up boundaries that protect you from unnecessary criticisms and made-up fears.

  1. Who will hold us accountable?

Eight of Swords

Eight of Swords - Tarot de St. Croix by Lisa de St. Croix

Hehe. I will hold you accountable by reminding you of your superstitions just enough to keep you in line, but leaving you free enough to find a more ethical way forward.

Seek out the places where you lose track of your moral judgment and stay there until you can feel your intuition finding you again.

Having me hold you all accountable means you must pay attention to the moments when you just want to forget what your intuition is saying and fall off your path. I will keep you on track and I will make you pay attention. You cannot relax and fall into an apathetic stupor with me on your case. Take a rest by all means, but recognise that the rest allows you to step with more certainty and piercing insight. Walk carefully and walk properly, but above all, keep walking.

  1. How can we love each other well, and without judgment?

Nine of Wands

Nine of Wands - Tarot de St. Croix by Lisa de St. Croix

You must be willing to walk away from your carefully constructed and heavily guarded opinions. You must be ready to enter a space where nobody knows you. If I can help you love each other well and without judgment, then you will notice a certain freedom when faced by people who think differently to you.

Instead of fear, you may notice compassion arise. This does not mean you have to lose sight of your own value system, but you may hold the creative notion that there is a way forward together.

Loving each other without judgment requires self-knowledge, and the best way to do that is to get to know your own inner mystery. You won’t find this knowledge in noisy debates, you will find it when you sit down with your own mind and heart. Be patient with the rate at which you grow. There are no contests here, only checking points.

Keep checking in though, with yourself and with those you love, so that collectively you can all learn how to support each other simply by opening your hearts. There are powerful places to reach when you are willing to converse with wisdom, so jolly well get to it. If you find yourself alone at any point, you don’t have to stop and wait for others. Slow and steady is best. See you on the path, my dears.
